The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation Continues Books That Cook: Cowboy Cooking with Micallef, Perini and Lambert FORT WORTH, TX (April 25, 2017) "Cowboy Cooking," happening at 6 p.m., June 22, is the next installment in its Books That Cook series, the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation announced today. A panel of three local cowboy cookbook author/chef/restaurateurs offer their expertise and thoughts on cooking in wild West Texas. Mike Micallef, Tom Perini and Lou Lambert are multi-faceted talents who enjoy cooking and each other's company, promising this is a night to remember. A native of Fort Worth, Mike Micallef is president of Reata Restaurant. With a BBA from Texas Christian University and a certificate from the world-renowned ranch management program, Mike has managed equity investments, advised in finance, banking and entertainment fields, and always enjoys the cowboy life of hunting, fishing, food and family. Mike is the author of Reata: Legendary Texas Cooking. Tom Perini's love for ranch life began as a young boy, growing up and working on his family's ranch. In 1973 he turned that passion into a career and has since become America's quintessential cowboy gourmet. Perini moved from the back of the chuck wagon into his own restaurant on the family's working ranch, the Perini Ranch Steakhouse located in Buffalo Gap, Texas (population 463). Tom is the author of Texas Cowboy Cooking. When it comes to Texas ranching families, Lou Lambert and his family have been ranching out in West Texas for seven generations. He grew up hunting turkey, deer and ducks, and helping out on the family’s big cattle roundups every year. After studying at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, Lou apprenticed in some of the nation’s finest restaurants in New York and San Francisco, where he cooked for Wolfgang Puck. Lou has perfected “haute cowboy” cuisine by combining fine dining and ranch cuisine. Lou is the author of Big Ranch, Big City: Recipes from Lambert’s Texas Kitchens. Join us for a panel discussion moderated by June Naylor on Thursday, June 22 at 6 p.m. at the Fort Worth Southwest Regional Library located at the corner of South Hulen Drive and Library Lane. Naylor, also a cookbook author, will dive into vast experience from Micallef, Perini and Lambert and how each embraces local ingredients, recipes and traditional Texas techniques. Naylor and the Cowboys will discuss their cookbooks in some detail, as well as the process of putting the books together. Each author will have their cookbooks for sale and will be available to sign copies. Three former lead singers from three of the world’s most renowned vocal groups… which collectively have sold over 100 million records  …“The Temptations”, “The Platters”, and “The Drifters”… have come together to create the ultimate musical experience, “Leonard, Coleman & Blunt.”  Glenn Leonard, former lead tenor, “The Temptations,” (heard around the world as the lead on the group’s classic, “Silent Night,”) (1975-1983), Joe Coleman, former lead singer, “The Platters,” “Only You”, “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” (1988-2004), and Joe Blunt, former lead singer of “The Drifters” “Under The Boardwalk”, “On Broadway” (1975-1985), together, bring their rich blend of classic hits and showmanship to the stage. Most recently, “Leonard, Coleman & Blunt” wowed the audience at the re-opening of the famed Howard Theater in Washington D.C.  Their “Motown Tribute”, arranged and produced by Award winning producer, George Duke, brought the audience and legendary honoree, Berry Gordy, to their feet.  The same week, the group performed in the Annual Cherry Blossom Parade, which was aired on ABC-TV, to rave reviews.  They were also featured at the TV-One/Radio One Christmas Gala for its legendary founder, Cathy Hughes.  “Leonard, Coleman & Blunt” is proud to note that as a former member of the legendary Temptations Glenn Leonard has, recently, been inducted into the R&B Music Hall of Fame.  We are equally proud that Joe Blunt was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by Sony Music for his work with the Drifters, and recently received a Gold Disk for his contribution to the Sony Music compilation  CD, “The Drifters – Up On The Roof – The Very Best OF”.  Reminisce as “Leonard, Coleman & Blunt” return you to the days of rhythm and romance…to an era when “The Temptations", “The Platters” and “The Drifters,” ruled the airwaves and brought joy to millions through their music.
