OUR OBJECTIVES

– Celebrate the accomplishments of African American filmmakers including actors, producers, directors, and other industry professionals.
– Provide opportunities for new and developing African American filmmakers to present their work to the community.
– Enhance, promote, and shape positive images and role models for the African American community and the broader Denton community.
– Provide opportunities to network with professionals in the film-making industry.
– Enrich and build a strong culture of diversity in Denton.
– Provide opportunities for sponsors to establish a mutually beneficial relationships within Denton and the African American businesses and cultural community.

Storytelling is the core of any culture. Stories are how traditions, ideas and experiences are shared and passed down from one generation to the next. Denton Black Film Festival is a platform for stories about black lives, black culture and black experiences to be shared, told and lived.

The Denton Black Film Festival creates a space where :
